I have been a member of the south-based occupational hygiene team at SOCOTEC for just over a year, having recently taken on the role of Occupational Hygiene Team Leader. I have over four years of experience as an occupational hygienist and I am currently working towards my BOHS Certificate of Operational Competence in Occupational Hygiene. I undertake a wide range of occupational exposure monitoring including airborne hazardous substances, noise and vibration assessments. My area of particular interest lies in local exhaust ventilation examination and testing. Although our team also offers a breadth of additional services such as indoor air quality assessments, lighting surveys and assessments of exposure to physical agents such as ionising radiation. I have also been volunteering for the BOHS as their Midlands regional organiser for a few years. These meetings having covered various topics including asbestos surveys, metal working fluid sampling, isocyanates biological monitoring, skin surveillance and EMF. When I’m not working what I like to do is… Work! I’m a workhorse and I love what I do.
